2010 Annual Fundraising Resource Guide

December 2009 By Margaret Battistelli

Well, 2009 is rolling to a close — and what a year it's been! While this isn't the place to be waxing poetic about the passage of time, it's as good a place as any to acknowledge the impact of the economy on the philanthropic sector and how much has changed due to it and to the fast track that fundraising-related technology is on.

But no matter how much things seem to have changed, no matter how many social-networking sites you establish or how aggressively you connect with supporters via e-mail or how multichannel your efforts have become, much remains the same. You still need to nail the sound fundraising strategies that have been in play for decades. And to do that, you still need the sage guidance and partnership of full-service fundraising agencies; specialized consultancies; and technology, software and service providers.

That's where our annual Fundraising Resource Guide comes in. This annual effort is meant specifically to help you find those companies, products and services that will best suit your needs — whether those needs be in list management, direct-mail creative, Web design, seach-engine optimization, sustainability, mobile marketing, etc., etc, etc.

It's a comprehensive compilation of hundreds of agencies, consultants and service/product/software/technology providers that you can keep on hand all year long. Rather than slog through general-information directories or those little scraps of paper that you collect at conference after conference with fellow fundraisers' input scribbled on them, all you have to do is flip through the pages of the Fundraising Resource Guide to narrow down your search for the perfect partners and providers.

How it works
The list was compiled by our editorial and sales staffs over the course of the second half of 2009. Every vendor and agency that serves the nonprofit fundraising sector was asked to submit basic information for free inclusion in the guide. There also was the option for companies to pay to have enhanced listings — with more company and service information included.

If you know the name of a specific company you'd like to contact, the Alphabetical Index, which starts on Page 57, will guide you to that company's listing within the Category Listings. If you have a need but aren't sure where to turn, head straight to the Category Listings, which start on Page 19. Simply look for the heading that includes what you're looking for, and scan the companies and contact information listed there. The index at the right will help you locate your category of interest more quickly.
