BMC Software Gives Blackbaud the IT Power to Help Nonprofits Rally Support, Raise Money and Help People

June 17, 2009

HOUSTON, June 17, 2009 — Nonprofit organizations today are increasingly turning to outsourced IT solutions to help build community support, raise money and distribute the resources that people need.

A major leader in this crucially important service area, Blackbaud offers tailored Internet-based software and services that give nonprofit organizations an easy, cost-effective, and secure way to take their fundraising and communications efforts online. To accomplish these objectives, Blackbaud uses Business Service Management (BSM) solutions from BMC Software (NYSE:BMC) to further strengthen its technology services, enabling nonprofits to focus on their core mission of helping people.

“We run customer Web sites, provide content management services, process outbound marketing efforts, and collect charitable donations,” said Scott Crowder, vice president of Blackbaud’s Internet Solutions Division. “Maintaining uninterrupted availability is absolutely paramount. BMC Software helps us deliver our services to our customers with complete predictability, security and reliability.”

Blackbaud’s current BSM solutions include BMC BladeLogic Service Automation and BMC Configuration Automation for Networks to achieve a unified IT operations platform that addresses monitoring, management, configuration and compliance. The operational efficiency provided by the BSM platform assists Blackbaud’s IT management to better control costs and helps ensure that a diverse range of organizations, from the American Heart Association and the Arthritis Foundation to Boy Scouts of America, receive high-quality support.

With a rapidly expanding customer base, Blackbaud must also continually focus on the manageability of its growing IT infrastructure. The company plans to implement BMC Atrium Orchestrator and BMC Atrium Configuration Management Database to help automate complex processes involving monitoring, ticketing and email, and fully integrate its existing BSM solutions.

“BMC enables us to add servers and data centers while improving our efficiency, meaning we can free up resources to work on compliance and operational improvements,” continues Crowder. “The integration and automation we achieve with BMC is critical to the success of our business, whether it’s better addressing the needs of our customers or helping us align IT resources to our business requirements.”

Business runs on IT. IT runs on BMC Software.

The most demanding IT organizations in the world rely on BMC Software across both distributed and mainframe environments. Recognized as the leader in Business Service Management, BMC’s comprehensive approach and unified platform help IT organizations cut cost, reduce risk and drive business profit. For the four fiscal quarters ended March 31, 2009, BMC revenue was approximately $1.87 billion. Visit www.bmc.com for more information.
