Center on Philanthropy Congratulates Indianapolis Philanthropic Leader L.H. Gayley on Lifetime Achievement Award
November 17, 2009Bayley has been honored numerous times for his noteworthy philanthropic endeavors, including the Distinguished Hoosier Award bestowed by Governor Frank O’Bannon in 2001, the Sagamore of the Wabash bestowed by Governor Evan Bayh in 1994 and, along with his wife of more than 50 years, Dianne Bayley, the Spirit of Service Award from the Archdiocese of Indianapolis in 2001, which is the Archdiocese’s highest recognition for lay leaders. He and Dianne also received St. Vincent Hospital’s 2002 St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Award, the hospital’s highest honor awarded to those who demonstrate exceptional qualities in service to the poor, reverence, integrity, wisdom, creativity and dedication.
Bayley will be honored by AFP-IC at its 26th annual Philanthropy Awards Dinner in Indianapolis on Thursday, November 19, 2009.
Bayley is the chairman of the 100 year-old David A. Noyes & Company, the oldest New York Stock Exchange member firm in the Midwest. He started his career at David A. Noyes in 1959 and has served as chairman since 1978. Bayley has also served on the board of governors of the National Association of Securities Dealers (NASD) and the executive committee of the Securities Industry Association Central States District, among others, and has earned decades of industry accolades, awards and recognition. A former captain in the U.S. Army, Bayley received special training as a missile control officer and served eight years in the Reserves.
