Thoughts on the 2010 Bridge Conference

Wow, how about that Bridge Conference, huh? Always a whirlwind of riveting sessions and inspiring networking opps, Bridge 2010 didn't let us down. Were you in that crazy lunch session on Wednesday where Jo Sullivan and friends donned space gear to talk about the future of fundraising? It was definitely, um, out of this world.

It was also extreme, and kind of cheesy (and hilarious), but the message was clear: The future of fundraising won't be the same as it has been over history — an overriding theme of this year's conference. Future donors will want more information, deeper relationships and more "say" in how their donations are used. And they'll believe it's your job to understand them, learn about them and connect with them — on their terms. Hmmm ... Jo and company might have traveled through time to make this presentation, but it seems like their picture of the future of fundraising has already begun being painted!

In this week's FS Advisor, Senior Editor Joe Boland breaks down another of the conference's fab sessions, "Futurology 2010: Focus, Determination & Transformation," presented by Tony Elischer.

And since we're on the topic of conferences, I'd love to hear what you found to be the most valuable insights gleaned from Bridge — whether you heard them in a session, at a party or at lunch. Drop me a line at mbattistelli@napco.com

Peace & blessings,
