Workshops Help Nonprofits With Raising Revenue

August 13, 2009
August 12, 2009 — Three revenue generation workshops will be presented in September by the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation in partnership with the Community Foundation of North Florida, The Council on Culture & Arts, and United Partners for Human Services.

The workshops are the final three in a series of 12 workshops entitled "Stronger, Smarter, Better: Assuring the Viability of Your Nonprofit Organization in Difficult Economic Times" and designed to help nonprofit organizations survive and thrive in these difficult economic times.

The programs are being held at Goodwood Museum & Gardens in the Carriage House and are free of charge for all attendees.

The first workshop, "The ABC's of Fundraising", will be Sept. 3 from 2 to 5:30 p.m., presented by a representative of the Big Bend Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals.

The ABC's of Fundraising will address basic fundraising concepts and is geared for smaller nonprofit organizations, those individuals relatively new to the fundraising field, and those desiring a refresher of the basics of fundraising.

The second workshop entitled "Creative Revenue Generation" will be Sept. 10 from 8:30 a.m. to noon and will be presented by Laura Deaton of Full Glass Consulting in Port St. Joe.

Creative Revenue Generation is designed for more experienced individuals to help them step out of the traditional fundraising box and learn cutting-edge strategies of revenue generation. Participants in this session will leave with creative revenue generation ideas and strategies that are tailored to their organization.

The final workshop entitled "Planning for the Future: Earned Income Strategies" will be Sept. 29 from 8:30 a.m. to noon and will be presented by Cindy Coney of MissionWise in Tampa. Planning for the Future: Earned Income Strategies is aimed at more mature organizations that are better positioned for earned income strategy development.

More than 300 representatives of local nonprofit organizations participated in the first nine workshops offered in June and July.
