Before joining FundRaising Success, Margaret was an editor and writer for America Online’s Digital City sites in Philadelphia, Atlanta, Pittsburgh, Harrisburg and Atlantic City. She was the publisher of PhillyFeast, a monthly magazine about food in and around Philadelphia, and has held editor positions at MetroKids magazine, the Atlantic City Press and the South Philadelphia Review. She’s active in fundraising on a local level and is founder/executive director of PhillyTeen Inc., a fledgling nonprofit organization dedicated to helping teenagers make the transition from adolescence to adulthood by providing guidance, support and life-affirming activities in a secure location. Melissa brings a 12-year professional journalism background to her role at FundRaising Success, having worked at newspapers including The Intelligencer in Horsham, Pa., The Gloucester County Times in Woodbury, N.J., and The Philadelphia Inquirer. She’s written features and hard news items, covering both general interest topics and a variety of beats; and as a reporter, accompanied the Pennsylvania Air National Guard to the Mexican border to report on a crackdown on illegal immigration by the U.S. Military. Abny was promoted in the summer of 2007 to the new role of Target Marketing Group Managing Editor after serving first as FundRaising Success’ associate editor and then, most recently, senior editor. In her new role, Abny will handle print and online production for this magazine and the TM Group’s newest launch, eM+C, as well as supervise those processes for the group’s other magazines. Prior to joining the Target Marketing Group editorial team in January 2008, Joe worked for Montgomery Newspapers, headquartered in Fort Washington, Pa. There, he was a sportswriter and editor, covering high school sports in the local communities of Bucks and Montgomery counties. He is a graduate of Pennsylvania State University, where he earned a bachelor of arts in journalism.

Katya is VP of marketing at Network for Good, a nonprofit that helps other nonprofits raise money online, and keeper of Katya’s Non-Profit Marketing Blog: Getting to the Point. Named one of FS’ Fundraising Professionals of the Year in 2007, she pens our monthly column, To the Point, and is author of the book, “Robin Hood Marketing: Stealing Corporate Savvy to Sell Just Causes.”

Kurt is president/COO of Boston-based consultancy Charity Partners, which provides fundraising solutions for respected charities throughout the world. Kurt also is the former senior VP of resource development and marketing for Boys & Girls Clubs of America. He’s a no-nonsense, incredibly talented speaker and, to that end, a bit of a rabble-rouser. If you get a chance to hear him speak, grab it!

Tim is senior director of direct marketing at Habitat for Humanity. Under Tim, the department is responsible for raising about $80 million a year. Prior to working for Habitat, Tim was a fundraiser at a number of nonprofit organizations, including CARE, Save the Children, The American Red Cross, World Society for the Protection of Animals and the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

In his role, Dane is responsible for overseeing HRC’s online community of more than 850,000 activists and has grown its sustainer program from 3,000 monthly donors to more than 30,000 — now accounting for more than $450,000 each month.
